25th April 2006:
Did you know that up to 90% of waste can be recycled?
If it was made easier, would you recycle more?
Bywaters is proud to introduce the twin containers recycling solution that will save time, space and money!
In July 2006, Bywaters is moving to new and much bigger premises in Bow, east London. The move means that Bywaters can instigate its longstanding plan to introduce a new state-of-the-art materials recycling facility (MRF), which makes Bywaters London's largest indoor recycling centre. Using industry-leading technology, infra-red sensors will automatically sort soft drinks cartons, polymers, mixed paper and plastics into their respective elements.
Customers will benefit from only having to segregate waste into two categories: mixed recyclables (dry waste) and food (wet waste).
The new segregation method works as follows:
WET Waste:
Fruit cores; teabags; food scraps; crisps bags and sweet wrappers; napkins; sandwich wrappers; anything contaminated with food (ie. salad and food containers) & glass (for small quantities only).
DRY Waste:
Empty aluminium and steel cans; plastic and paper cups; plastic bottles & drinks cartons; printed documents; white paper; coloured paper; newspapers; magazines & books.
Bywaters will work closely with clients to provide collections of pre-sorted or unsorted material to provide an appropriate solution for everyone. While there are obvious benefits to on-site segregation, this is not always possible for all operations. Bywaters aims to offer maximum environmental benefit to our customers by giving them the option of having all their mixed dry waste sorted automatically. The new system is being phased in over 2006.
