Local Recycling Goes Global
East London based Bywaters is leading the UK forward by increasing recycling and reducing Resource to landfill. Encouraging businesses and households around the country to take a greater interest in diverting Resource from landfill and thus protecting our environment.
"Futuresource", the UK based European showcase for the sustainability sector, was held at London’s ExCel earlier this month and covered all fields from traditional Resource management services to new technologies and renewable energy.
Bywaters exhibited at "Futuresource" and expanded its role to "make recycling easy" for households, local authorities and businesses in London and the South East. Bywaters’ distinctive orange and silver dry recyclable and blue residual Resource containers were clearly visible around the exhibition. All recyclables collected were processed through London’s largest and most central undercover dry recyclables Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), less than two miles from ExCel.
The highlight of the event for Bywaters was to host HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, who was exceptionally impressed with the organisation’s commitment to the Recycling and Resource Management sector. London Mayor, Boris Johnson, who opened the MRF in June 2008 with Sir Robin Wales, also visited Bywaters for a "catch-up" on Bywaters ongoing developments.
John S Glover, Managing Director, Bywaters says: "It was an absolute pleasure to welcome HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and show that it is possible for British businesses to survive and prosper through sustainable investment and innovation, even in difficult times. Bywaters is an innovative company, which seeks ways to minimise damage to the environment".
As an avid supporter of the local community and sustainable development, Bywaters hosted the Gala Drinks Reception, preceding the "Futuresource" Gala Dinner.
During the exhibition tours of Bywaters’ MRF were arranged on a continuous basis and extra facilities had to be provided to keep up with demand.
