Friday 11th September 2009:
On 4th September Bywaters, Breathingspace, Enjoy Work and Tesco set a NEW Guinness World Record for the fastest recycling ‘speed sort challenge’. Guests at Chiswick Park had the chance to get into the record books by breaking the record for the fastest time to sort two bags of recyclable materials. Melis Biskin, UIP and Sian Smith, Paramount Pictures beat other hopefuls from the Park by setting the record in the speedy time of 1 minute 50 seconds.

Ben Dando, Breathingspace says, “The 4th September was an exciting day for recycling with a NEW Guinness World Record being set. There was some great ‘recycle themed’ artwork from various London based artists and Tesco debuted an 8 x 5 metre piece of artwork made purely from their recyclable hangers to raise awareness of their recycling hanger initiative.”

Kirsty Baillie Hanicke, Communications Manager, Bywaters continues: “It is a wonderful opportunity to be involved in the setting of a new Guinness World Record for a recycling challenge at Chiswick Park. We have been working closely with the Park since August 2008 and in that time have greatly increased the recycling rates. The site with approximately 15,000 people, either working or visiting per day, is now achieving zero landfill.”

Chiswick Business Park in West London, voted one of the top 5 places to work in the UK, is home to Head Offices of over 30 household names including Discovery Channel, Starbucks and Paramount Pictures. A key factor to the business park’s success are the live events, organised by Enjoy Work, that run every Friday throughout the summer, adding fun and innovation to the working environment.

Chiswick Park have embraced recycling and currently recycle, through Bywaters Recycling and Waste Management, up to 90% of the park’s waste and aim to improve this figure by 2010. The World Record showcased the increasing commitment to recycling and was demonstrated by a solid participation in the World Record attempt.
