Monday 17th July 2009:
The marrying of recycling and finance is not a combination that immediately springs to mind. However, Graham Brett, a senior manager with Bywaters’ bankers Natwest, decided to visit one of his customers and experience recycling and waste management first hand.

Graham’s day started a little earlier than usual and 5:30am saw him collecting recycling and waste from the local area. Back on dry land Graham spent the remainder of the day undertaking a day in the life of Bywaters.

In the current climate, it is more important than ever that businesses stay close to their bankers and Natwest’s relationship banking model is founded upon a commitment to comprehensively understand the nature and detail of their customers’ businesses. Bywaters is keen to show how they are prospering through investment and innovation, even in these difficult times.

With a number of his customers operating in this sector, Graham has developed a specialist knowledge of the waste management industry and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management. He also works closely with the local inward investment agency Gateway to London, which is an active supporter of the sector.

Graham says: "It was a pleasure to spend the day with Bywaters Recycling and Waste Management and gain a deeper understanding of what they do. Recycling is at the forefront of many people’s minds and it was good to see how, with the support of Natwest, Bywaters makes recycling easy".

Kirsty Baillie Hanicke, Communications Manager, Bywaters continues: "It was wonderful to welcome Graham to Bywaters and let him see what we do first hand. We are an innovative forward thinking company that is always looking to the future. With the assistance of Natwest we will be able to continue finding ways of diverting waste from landfill".
