February 2011:
The London Borough of Waltham Forest and its partners are working on plans to make sure that the Olympic 2012 legacy neighbourhoods in and around the South of the Borough capitalise on the investment in the region.
The Northern Olympic Fringe Area Action Plan Preferred Options document was re-published in January 2011 and representatives, including Bywaters, were called upon by the London Borough of Waltham Forest (LBWF) the Local Planning Authority.
Bywaters submitted proposals for major changes that would significantly improve our Gateway Road operations as part of the North Olympic Fringe Area Action Plan. The recycling and resource management hub is only yards from main Olympic developments and perfectly placed to construct a recycling legacy.
Bywaters was thankful to work with Stock Woolstencroft, Studio Aitken, Urbanists and Strettons to generate a master plan for Bywaters Gateway Road. One of many considerations was to build a state of the art 21st century resource management facility adjacent to Orient Way with other residential or commercial developments on the rest of the site.
The consultation period has now closed and The Council is considering all comments submitted and will publish a consultation report later in the year.
Bywaters in addition has submitted a planning application to LBWF in line with our environmental aims to cover the existing operations at our Gateway Road site. This will reduce the environmental impact of the site until the North Olympic Fringe Area Action Plan is determined.
